Syed Ali is a distinguished student leader, academic achiever, and youth advocate whose commitment to service, debate, and global awareness has made him a role model among his peers.

Syed began his academic journey at San Fernando TML Primary School, where he was enrolled from 2011 to 2018. During this time, he demonstrated exceptional academic ability, culminating in his success at the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA). He not only passed for his first choice, Naparima College, but also ranked in the 98th percentile nationally, a testament to his dedication and intellectual strength.

In 2018, Syed entered Naparima College, where he quickly immersed himself in school life and student leadership. As a member of the UNESCO Club executive, he helped organize and lead community service initiatives, including beach cleanups, support for Venezuelan migrants, and other projects focused on civic responsibility.

By 2023, Syed’s leadership skills had grown immensely. He was elected President of the Naparima College Literary and Debating Society, a position he held until 2025. During his tenure, he revitalized the club, ushering in a wave of competitive success and growing student interest. Syed also actively represented the school in major debating competitions, including the LSA Debating Competition and the Oropouche East Debate Competition, where his articulate and well-researched arguments earned him and his school recognition. Syed himself, trained multiple students at every form level to be proficient in debating.

In October 2024, Syed spoke at Parliament on the 2024 National Budget at the Youth Budget talks, where he made a well-received contribution highlighting the concerns of young people across the nation and demanded better salaries for his teachers amongst other issues of national development. His speech was widely praised for its insight and maturity.

In May 2024, Syed’s achievements were recognized on the international stage when he was selected by the U.S. Embassy to serve as one of only four Youth Ambassadors from Trinidad and Tobago and the only representative from South Trinidad. As part of this prestigious program, he traveled to Rochester, New York, and Washington, D.C. in July & August, where he engaged in leadership development, diplomacy, and cultural exchange. Upon returning home, he remained deeply involved in local community service initiatives, further demonstrating his commitment to national development.

In September 2024, Syed was appointed Head Prefect (Head Boy) of Naparima College the school’s most prestigious student leadership position. In this role, he has served his school with distinction, representing the student body with integrity and enthusiasm in every capacity. His deans have testified to his performance with some deeming him the best head prefect in years. Whether it was a cultural, religious or academic occasion Syed was there to speak, attestemant to his holistic development at the school. Outside the classroom and through the corridors of his school students from every form level have been impacted by Syed in some way as he always pushed himself to help all students however best he could.
