A list of superlatives, their meanings and uses which can be used to for emphasis and also in terms of highest and lowest degrees

Superlatives can be used to in terms of degree or emphasis. This simply means that it can be used in terms of expressing the highest or lowest degree of something as well as emphasizing on quality to compare things.
Expressing the most/the least
General rule 1:
- Article (el, la, las) + noun* + más/menos + adjective
NOTE: the asterisk (*) means that the noun is optional.
Spanish Sentence | English Translation | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Este es el más caro | This is the most expensive | Más |
La lavadora es la más cara | The washing machine is the most expensive | Más |
Este es el menos caro | This is the least expensive | Menos |
El collar es el menos caro | The necklace is the least expensive | Menos |

NOTE: the asterisk (*) means that the ‘de’ is optional since it depends on the structure of the sentence.
