Comparatives are normally used to compare two or more things. It can be categorized into the following forms:
- Comparative words
- Adjectives
- Prepositions
Comparative words
- Más - more
- Menos - less
- Tan - so
- Mejor – Better
- Peor – Worse
- Igual – Same
- Diferente – Different
- Que - than
Adjectives
- Rápido/a - fast/quick
- Lento/a - slow
- Fuerte - strong
- Débil – weak
- Nuevo/a – new
- Viejo/a – old
Prepositions
- Como - as/like/such as
- Con - with
- Bajo - under
- Entre - between
- Hacia - toward
Using comparatives
General rules:
- More than - verb + más + adjective + que (y)
- Less than - verb + menos + adjective + que (y)
- As….as - verb + tan + adjective + (y)
