Energy Forms Various Energy Types - Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy Renewable and Non-renewable Renewable Energy - Energy derived from an inexhaustible source

Non-renewable Energy - Energy acquired from a finite source

Comparison: Renewable vs. Non-renewable Renewable Non-renewable Potential Energy

Potential Energy refers to the energy possessed by an object based on its position in a field or its state

Potential Energy based on position in a field

Potential Energy is present within the gravitational field of a stationary object A stationary charge holds potential energy within an electric field A fixed magnet possesses potential energy within a magnetic field Potential Energy related to the object's condition

A coiled spring stores potential energy as a result of its compressed state A stretched rubber band contains potential energy due to its elongated state Kinetic Energy

Kinetic Energy is the energy possessed by an object due to its movement

Work

What is work?

Work is said to be done whenever the point of application of a force moves.

The work done by the force is equal to the product of the force & the displacement of force.

The work done by the force is equal to the product of the force & distance moved by the force in the direction of the force. WORK AND ENERGY ARE SCALAR QUANTITIES.

Unit : Joule (J)

Work done = Force x Distance

The Principle of conservation of energy

The principle states that energy is neither created nor destroyed but it is converted from 1 form to another.

All potential energy converted to kinetic energy

Power

the rate of change of energy with respect to time

Power is a scalar quantity

Power (P) = Energy(E)/time (t)

Watt (W) = Joule (J)/Seconds (s)
