Learn how to study for Theory Based Subjects!

What are classified as Theory Based Subjects?

Theory based subjects are subjects which tend to focus a lot on definitions and content. Many of these subjects do not require any extensive knowledge on calculation related topics.

Some examples of Theory Based Subjects are:

How to effectively study for these subjects?

These subjects are relatively simple in terms of studying techniques.

We primarily recommend using a medium which capitalises on the proven scientific methods of retaining information. These proven methods include: Active Recall, Spaced Repetition and Interleaved Practice.

Feel free to research these methods. If required Edukatte may do a research project on these methods in the future!

So, how can you as a student use these effective methods. It’s very simple; Flashcards!

Applications like Anki provide a very effective medium to utilise each of the scientific retention strategies.

We recommend using an online platform that has specially crafted algorithms to assist in retention. However, if you are not comfortable feel free to use a physical method with a proper system in place to utilise all methods stated previously (do some research on how you can apply those techniques to physical Flashcards).

At the end of the day, once you are able to master the content of your subjects, it goes without saying that you should start past papers as these can effectively prepare you for your exam.

It is also recommended to seek external questions that may be a bit harder to perfect the subjects. At Edukatte we provide Worksheets for many subjects; check them out we may have for your subjects!

And that’s about it, no need to get fancy or in depth, sometimes the simplest methods are the most efficient and effective!
